This policy explains what WordMint collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to describe how the app actually behaves rather than to reserve every right we might one day want.
The short version. To use WordMint you create an account with an email address. We store what you are learning and how you are doing at it, so your progress follows you to a new phone. We show advertising through Google AdMob. Text you put into the Translate tab is sent to a third-party translation service, and that text is also kept in your account. We do not sell your personal information.
WordMint: Vocab Builder is published by Evenmore Infotech ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
Everything below is tied to your account and stored on our servers. We do not collect anything from you before you create an account, other than what is needed to load the sign-in screen and to serve ads.
Please do not enter sensitive information into the translator. Anything you type or dictate there is sent to an external translation service and is retained in your account history until you delete your account.
When an ad is displayed to you or you tap one, we record the ad format (banner, interstitial, rewarded, native or app-open), whether it was a view or a tap, the time, and your account ID. We use this to see which placements work. It does not include anything about the ad's content or advertiser.
These never leave your phone and are erased when you uninstall the app:
| What | Why | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Email, password hash, Google ID | To create your account and let you sign back in | Performance of a contract |
| Learning data and preferences | To decide which words to teach you and when to review them, and to show your progress | Performance of a contract |
| Saved words | To give you back the phrases you chose to keep | Performance of a contract |
| Translation history | To enforce the daily free limit and to improve the feature | Legitimate interests |
| Ad view and tap events | To measure which ad placements perform | Legitimate interests |
| Advertising identifier | To show advertising, personalised only where you consented | Consent |
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers. Data reaches these companies only for the purposes described:
| Service | What reaches them | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising identifier, IP address, device and ad-interaction signals, collected by the ad SDK to serve and measure ads | policies.google.com |
| Google Sign-In (optional) | Only used if you choose it. Google confirms your identity to us and gives us your email and account ID | policies.google.com/privacy |
| MyMemory (Translated s.r.l.) | The text you submit in the Translate tab and the language pair, in order to return a translation. Your identity is not sent with it | mymemory.translated.net |
| Our hosting provider | Hosts the database and API on our behalf under a processing agreement | — |
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of users. If the app is ever sold or merged, your data may transfer with it; you will be told before that takes effect.
WordMint is free and supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. Ads appear as banners, occasional full-screen interstitials between sessions, and optional rewarded videos you choose to watch in exchange for a hint or extra translations. Ads are never shown in the middle of an exercise.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows you Google's consent form the first time you open it, before any ad is requested. Your choice there controls whether ads are personalised. You can change it at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings. Outside those regions you can limit ad personalisation through your device's own advertising settings.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our answer, you may complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in India, you may contact us using the same address to raise a grievance under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
Email [email protected] from the address registered on your account with the subject "Delete my account". We will confirm and remove your account, learning progress, saved words and translation history within 30 days. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
WordMint is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or 16 if you are in a country where that is the minimum age for consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if we learn that we have, we will delete the account. If you believe a child has registered, contact us at [email protected].
Our servers and the third-party services listed above may process your data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision to protect it.
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use WordMint after a change means you accept the updated policy.
